Since the name WindyCity Greek has become synonymous with me, the founder, publisher, and editor of WindyCity Greek magazine which was published from 2015-2019, I’ve decided to keep the name to use on my new blog!
Maria A. Karamitsos IS the WindyCity Greek!
It’s a multi-faceted blog, where I’ll be writing about books, writing, even providing tips to others from my years of working in the media. But here, you’ll come along on my adventures! I’m still as passionate as ever about sharing the stories of amazing Greeks around the world. I’ll be sharing some of these stories on other Greek media outlets, but others I will share here. Be sure to follow along.

Maria A. Karamitsos is the founder and former publisher/editor of WindyCity Greek magazine and is the former Associate Editor and Senior Writer for The Greek Star newspaper. Since 2002, her journalism has been widely published across Greek media. She has contributed to two books: Greektown Chicago - Its History, Its Recipes and The Chicago Area Ethnic Handbook. Her poetry has been published in The Magic of Us – A Moms Who Write Poetry Anthology, The PEN poetry magazine, and Highland Park Poetry. Her essays and articles have also appeared in Recipes & Roots, TripFiction, Shortcuts for Writers, Women.Who.Write, Voices of Hellenism Literary Journal, Harlots Sauce Radio, and more. Her essay, “It’s the Goddess of America” has been optioned for film development as an anthology series. She's currently editing her debut novel.
