About the book
The Sky’s The Limit is the life story of John P. Calamos, Sr., founder, chairman, and chief global investment officer of Calamos Investments. He’s a pioneer in the fields of convertible securities and liquid alternative investments, both of which changed the face of the financial world. Calamos had a distinguished 17-year career in the military, retiring with the rank of major. He is also a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross.
We follow his life as the son of Greek immigrants in Chicago, pursuing their American Dream. We learn about his formative years to his educational path, to his service as a combat fighter in Vietnam and flying more than 400 missions, to the founding of Calamos Investments. Calamos shares his own unique path as a family man, a Veteran, and entrepreneur—and everything in between.
My Greek Books review
John P. Calamos, Sr. has led an extraordinary life, through humble beginnings, war, to starting his own company and growing it to become the global leader it is today. Joe Garner does what he does best—combining the history, the humanity, all the ups and downs—to share the story of this distinguished businessman. Calamos’ legacy is more than the sum of its parts—it’s the story of how his family and heritage shaped him, creating a work ethic that compelled him to keep reaching for the stars. He shows us that we don’t all have to follow the same path to our dreams—we just have to show up, work hard, give back, and don’t forget where you come from. Pick up a copy.

About the book
In the 1990s, American Katerina lives a quiet life in a Cretan mountain village with her Greek husband Dimitris and their daughter Aspasia. When Dimitris leaves for an extended period of time to work on a cargo ship, everything changes. Katerina must find her own way, and not only earn money as a teacher, but juggle that with the care for her young daughter. One day, after Aspasia returns home, Katerina realizes there is something amiss. A shocking incident rocks her world. Katerina doesn’t know who she can trust. A mother’s love is boundless, but as a veritable stranger in a strange land, Katerina can only count on her own wit and instincts to keep her child safe.
My Greek Books review
Aspasia is a gripping tale of two shocking crimes and the lengths a mother will go to protect her child. It’s a portrait of how an idyllic, peaceful life can be turned upside down in a moment’s notice. Sometimes we can only count on ourselves. I couldn’t put it down. Check it out.
