About the book

After living on Tilos for more than a decade, Jen makes it official with the purchase of an island home. Empty for five years, the house is hidden by overgrown brush and damage from goats. Jen learns to care for the home and tame the garden, while finding more ways to be part of the community. She’s learning to Greek dance and embraces island life with her dog Lisa. Always ready for an adventure, Lisa loves to explore hidden pathways and a swim in the sea – just like her human.

My Greek Books review*

I’ve loved all of Jennifer Barclay’s books about her time in Greece, and An Island Home and a Salty Dog is no exception.  I love following her adventures—and Lisa’s. Reading about her new home and her life on the island, make me dream about leaving it all behind, retreating to a little island home of my own. Don’t miss it!

About the book

Photographer Emma Walker is living and working in the US. But when her mother dies, she must return to England for the funeral, and to sort through her mother’s belongings. There, she discovers a hidden box that includes seven faded postcards, addressed to her grandmother, Barbara. Determined to uncover the truth, Emma follows the trail to Cyprus, where her grandmother once served as a Wren at the British naval base in Famagusta. There, during WWII, Barbara fell in love with a charismatic submarine officer. But wartime duty tore them apart, leaving behind only seven unsent postcards and a lifetime of unanswered questions.

Everything about this adventure is lifechanging. As Emma uncovers the story, she finds herself drawn to Ethan, a novelist encouraging her to write the story. But is Ethan simply a cheerleader or is there more there? Will Emma write the book? What happens with Ethan? You’ll have to read it to find out.

My Greek Books review

The discovery of the box and the quest to find the truth about the sender had me fascinated. I had to learn more about “the seven postcards from Famagusta”. Sarah Catherine Knights skillfully turned the discovery of a little box into a lifechanging adventure. We don’t always know what happened in our ancestors’ pasts, but we can be sure that those incidents shaped them forever. Pick up a copy.
